Joseph Cabrera
Joe was born in the Panama Canal Zone on Dec 3, 1921. He had a lifelong love of boxing and learned his technique from his father at the age of 10. He came to N.Y.C. as a teen during the depression and helped take care of his younger siblings while going to school. Joe joined the Navy in 1943 and was a LST driver in the D-day invasion of Normandy as he did five landings of troops onto "Utah Beach". He spent five days in a fox hole on the beach. After the war he rejoined Trans World Airlines in his job and ultimately retired after 42 years with this company. He was a supervisor of aircraft inspection. Joe passed away on Dec 6th at the age of 92. He joins his parents and four sisters in heaven. Joe is survived by his wife Marjorie and they were married for 68 years. He is also survived by a brother, three sons, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday Dec 16th at St. Catherine Laboure in Torrance.
