Joy Ethel Rutz, 86, died on October 26, 2011 in Atascadero, Ca. She was born on September 1, 1925, to James T. Caughlin, Jr. and Nora Ethel Caughlin in Los Angeles. As an only child she was raised and went to Catholic school in San Pedro and graduated from San Pedro High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Walter (Fritz) Rutz in July 2003. They lived in Torrance from 1956 until she moved to Atascadero in 2010. Her family in Atascadero includes her daughter, Linnea Glover and her husband, David; granddaughter, Christine Joy Himmelrich, her husband, Tom, and their children, Samantha and Ryan; granddaughter, Sandy Hesch, her husband, Jesse, and their children, Allison, Katelyn and Jackson; granddaughter, Corina Kosharek, her husband, Tim, and a baby due in February; grandson, Allan Glover, and wife, Susee, who live in Santa Clara while Allan attends college. In Torrance she leaves her daughter, Karen Hurst and her husband, Ed; grandson, James Hurst. In La Quinta, she is survived by her grandson, Edward Owen Hurst, his wife, Kelly, and their son, Joseph. She experienced God's love through her family and in the last months the caregivers at Paradise Valley Care by the Lake. Her family was honored to have her close to them this past year. A gathering was held at David and Linnea's home to celebrate her life and offer comfort for the family on October 29th, where many friends of the family attended.
