Judy Shippel Obituary
Judy Messinger Shippel

Judy passed away February 4, 2014 at home in Palos Verdes, CA surrounded by family and friends after a very courageous seventeen month fight against pancreatic cancer. She was the widow of Dr. Ronald Shippel.

Judy is survived by her parents; R.L. and Shirley Messinger of Marysville, Pennsylvania. Her daughters; Alexandra Elizabeth Jones, Natalie Katherine Jones and Ava Jacqueline Jones all from Los Angeles, her brother; Robert Messinger and his wife Andrea of Palos Verdes, California and their children Madeleine and Kyle. Her cousin who was like a brother Larry "Ernie" Green his wife Jenni of Torrance California and their children Molly and Erin. She is also survived by one aunt and several cousins. Judy had many friends who cared deeply about her and who will miss her incredible spirit and ability to make people laugh and feel comfortable.

Judy had a passion for; life, travel, great food, good movies, great friends and most of all; ANY activity that included her daughters who were the loves of her life.

Judy was a bundle of joy for R.L. and Shirley when she was born on October 19, 1957 in the Harrisburg hospital. After graduating from Susquenita High School she graduated from Harrisburg Area Community College's school of nursing as a registered nurse. Judy's passion for helping people and the internal drive that she possessed led her to excel in the field of nursing for over 25 years. While Judy was practicing nursing she attended and graduated from the University of the District of Columbia at the top of her class with a degree in mortuary science something that had always intrigued her. For the last ten years Judy had a very successful career as a senior executive in technology sales to the Healthcare industry for Vector USA in Los Angeles California. She will be sadly missed by all of her colleagues at Vector.

Judy's choice was to be cremated and to have her ashes spread in all of the areas that were special to her and her daughters. A memorial service/party will be held in the near future in Los Angeles to celebrate her life, tell jokes, and maybe have a drink but most of all to honor Judy's generosity and love of life; just the way she wanted it to be.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the medical teams that treated Judy and especially the Torrance Memorial hospice group that were with her in the final phases of her life, without them this would have seemed impossible. In Judy's memory go out and do a few random acts of kindness in her name, she would have liked that and you'll feel better too. Rest in Peace and Paradise JAM!
