Julian Tielens Obituary
Julian Tielens

Julian Tielens, long-time resident of Palos Verdes Peninsula, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2014; he was 91. Julian was born on September 11, 1922 in Redondo Beach, California. He was one of eight children of Edna and Maurice Tielens. He is survived by two of his sisters (Lucille Arndt and Alice Irvine), his wife Dorothy, his five children, 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He graduated John Marshall High School in 1941, then served in the United States Coast Guard. Julian, together with his wife Dorothy, owned a general building contracting business. During their 70-plus years in the business they built numerous homes, apartment buildings and industrial buildings in the greater Los Angeles area. Julian loved the outdoors, particularly the ocean and lakes. He taught all his children, and many of the grandchildren to water ski. The family enjoyed numerous vacations together involving water sports. Julian was the salt of the earth, a loving, caring and generous man. His love and gratitude for his family and for God was continually evident and knew no bounds. Please email [email protected] for information about the service.
