Juvenal Jovet, Sr.

Juvenal Jovet, Sr. passed away on Sunday afternoon, December 16, 2012 in Cedar Hills, Utah from complications resulting from brain cancer. He was born September 6, 1926 in the town of Velasco, Oriente Province, in Eastern Cuba. Juvenal is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, L. Virginia, of Puerto Rico. Juvenal and Virginia were married in Manhattan in April of 1947 and later sealed in marriage in the Los Angeles Mormon Temple, after joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in April 1966. Juvenal enjoyed an international career with Pan Am and had the opportunity to live in nearly a dozen foreign countries stretching across four continents. During his lifetime he made a minimum of four trips around the world and visited over 70 countries. He never encountered a culture – or cuisine - he didn't find fascinating. Juvenal is also survived by his two sons, Saul (Ann) of Ewa Beach, Hawaii and Juvenal, Jr. (Cindy) of Lehi, Utah as well as five grandchildren – Renee (Larry Kocherhans) of Lehi, Utah, Janine (David Hernandez) of Lynnwood, Washington, Sylvie (Andrew Dorsett) of Provo, Utah, Juvenal III "Joey" (Harmony) of Seattle, Wash. and Nicole (Luke Curry) of Federal Way, Washington; and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Lunada Bay Ward chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 5845 Crestridge Rd. in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at 7 p.m. Juvenal and Virginia were long-term residents of the Palos Verdes Peninsula for over forty years.
