Kathryn M. Ellett

Kathryn Martella Ellett was born to Earl and Clara Van Leuven Harrison on April 10, 1917 in Loma Linda, CA. She was raised on an orange ranch in Bryn Maur, CA and graduated from Redlands High School. She also attended San Bernardino Jr. College and Pacific Bible Seminary in Long Beach, CA. She married Lertis R. Ellett on June 14, 1934. Together they built a stone house in San Bernardino and ministered to the 14th and E. Church of Christ in San Bernardino. The ministry was terminated was terminated when Lertis went off to war. Kathryn stayed with her two girls in their rock house. The family moved to Lawndale, CA in 1947 when she and Lertis ministered at Lawndale Christian Church for nearly 24 years. After the death of Lertis, she continued as choir director for 11 years. Kathryn taught piano in her home for 50 years. She leaved two daughters, Iona Kay Matson of Torrance, CA and Leilani Mochlenpah of Steamboat Springs, CO; 7 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A graveside memorial service will be held at Pacific Crest Cemetery. In addition there will also be a public memorial service on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Lawndale Christian Church.
