Katrina Ashley DeSimone Obituary
Katrina Ashley DeSimone

Katrina Ashley DeSimone, 28, of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. She was born on August 31, 1988, the daughter of John and Cecille DeSimone.

Katrina graduated from Palos Verdes High School in 2006, where she was a member of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency), a team of students and adults tasked with developing an autonomous car, which would later pave the way for Google's and Uber's driverless vehicles. In 2010, Katrina graduated from Mount Holyoke College with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and was an active member of the MHC Chorale. Post-graduation, her devotion to MHC continued on through the alumnae network to the various high school/college career programs in the area including Palos Verdes High School, Beverly Hills High School, and Santa Monica High School. Most recently, she was studying Speech Pathology at CSUN LA (California State University, Northridge) as part of her tireless efforts to help children, who were always drawn to her loving spirit.

Katrina will always be remembered for her compassionate, caring heart and her beautiful, bright smile. She was an avid reader but she most enjoyed re-reading her favorite series, the All Souls Trilogy and all seven Harry Potters each year. Katrina loved musical theater and was a Broadway show and film fanatic. If she wasn't reading or watching movies, she was spending her time in the kitchen exploring her love of cooking and baking - even taking classes at Il Fornaio in Manhattan Beach. Being a foodie at heart, Katrina was inspired by her many travels. Her passion for Italian cuisine was fueled by her summer abroad in Italy, where she fell in love with the Cinque Terre, Amalfi Coast region.

Katrina is survived by her parents John and Cecille. She also leaves her paternal grandfather, Louis, and her maternal grandparents, Leonardo, and Siony Salud, several aunts, uncles, cousins, many close friends and two beloved dogs, Charlie Bobo and Licorice.

Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum in Culver City, CA. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, January 20, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. with the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 21, at 12:30 p.m., followed by the interment.

Per Katrina's request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to Debbie's Dream Foundation (https://www.debbiesdream.org), a non- organization finding a cure for stomach cancer.
