Fred, as he was known by family and friends, was a 66 year resident of the South Bay. He grew up in Wilmington, CA and graduated from Banning High School in 1957. He was an excellent athlete and starred in football and baseball at Banning. During his teenage years, he was very involved with the Boy Scouts of America and ultimately earned an Eagle Scout rank. He attended Long Beach State College and graduated in 1961 with a Degree in Economics. Fred was a member of the Sigma Pi Fraternity at Long Beach State and formed many lifelong friends from his fraternity association. After college, he joined the Army in Fort Lewis Washington and served from 1962 to 1964. After the Army, he worked for Sears Roebuck and later Builders Square. He spent his entire career of 35 years in the retail industry rising to Department Manager and later Assistant Store Manager. He retired in 1999.
