Lawrence Craig Kennedy Obituary
October 11, 1953 - August 1, 2018A loss that escapes words, Larry, age 64, left this life peacefully in his sleep, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by family, on August 1, 2018. Larry was unfortunately diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on July 10, 2018. The son of Earl and Evelyn Kennedy, Larry spent his youth growing up in Hermosa Beach, spending countless days on the sand and surfing the waves. He graduated from Mira Costa High School in 1971. Larry's first jobs included working for various surf shops in the South Bay; Bay Cities, Bing Surfboards, Dewey Weber. He also worked for Hermosa Sandles and Vaupel's Liquor Store as a delivery boy. Larry eventually followed in his father's footsteps and worked for decades in the motion picture industry as a Lighting Director. Larry loved the great outdoors and camping with family and friends, who fondly remember wild and adventurous excursions to Kern River, and beach camping at San Elijo. A devoted fisherman, Larry loved everything about the sport. An avid car enthusiast, Larry was a FORD man. Time spent watching NASCAR and Dodger games were a favorite. Above all else, Larry was a beloved husband, doting father and grandfather, fun-loving brother, favorite uncle, and a friend to so many! Devoted to each other for 45 years, Larry leaves behind his wife and soulmate, Debbie (Danielsen), their son Jared, daughter Lauren and husband Shaun Bobb, and their pride-and-joy, Grandson Gavin Bobb, who brought great joy and love into Larry's life. His memory will continue in the hearts of his family, his sister Debbie, many nieces and nephews, and the longtime friends he cherished dearly. Completing Larry's family was his dog and best friend Skippy. Heaven just got a lot more fun! Larry, you are truly unforgettable. We will always remember you with a smile and a laugh. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Portofino Inn, Redondo Beach - Bayside Room. Please email Lauren_Bobb@yahoo.com if you plan to attend.
