Lema Laverne Rees, a valued and respected member of Frazier Park, California, passed away on March 23, 2011 from natural causes. She is survived by her sister Mary Snyder, her brother Tom Blackwell, her two sons, Chris and Matt Rees, six grandchildren, one great grandchild, and her beloved cat Oliver. Born on a road trip from Williams, Arizona to Yreka, California, on June 9, 1936, Lema had a lifelong love for traveling. Traveling to over thirty countries, Lema also raised four boys, and obtained her Nursing degree in 1987 and practiced as a Registered Nurse for over twenty years. After retiring, Lema took on the art of Tai Chi, becoming a mentor to many in her home town of Frazier Park. Lema's life was filled with adventure. Whether backpacking alone through foreign countries or enjoying her grandchildren, Lema positively affected the lives of many people around the world with her noticeably courageous spirit. She will be remembered and loved by many around the world; and although she has returned to the earth, just as all of us must, she will never be forgotten.
