In Loving Memory

Lenore Snodey

Lenore Ilene Yoder Snodey, born in Wakarusa, Indiana on January 2, 1930, and a South Bay resident for more than fifty years, died Sunday, June 29, 2014 after a long illness. A graduate of El Camino Nursing School in 1974 and a registered nurse at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Harbor City for two decades, she also served as volunteer nurse at the Unitarian Universalist de Benneville Pines Camp in Angelus Oaks, California.

A beloved mother, daughter, sister, friend and companion, she was a kind, generous person who loved her life and the people in it, ever expressing delight in the beauty she found around her. Her caring extended to all living things - animals, the planet and especially people in need.

She loved cooking, classical music, theatre, world travel, singing, poetry, pet tortoises and gardening. She also enjoyed board games. Despite her gentle manner, she was described by a close friend as a "ferocious Scrabble player." (More information about Lenore is at http://tinyurl.com/snodey.)

Lenore is survived by her partner of 35 years, Peter Landecker; her four children, David Krizton, Ramona Hill, Victor Snodey and Shoan Snoday; their father, Shonloss Richard Snodey; four grandchildren and two great- granddaughters, all of whom will miss her and love her always.

A celebration of her life will be on Saturday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Pacific Unitarian Church, 5621 Montemalaga Drive, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275. For directions, call (310) 378-9449. The family asks that donations in Lenore's memory be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains, NY 10605 (www.LLS.org) in lieu of flowers.
