Leon Hansen passed away on April 26. He was born in Denmark, to Aage and Maude Hansen, on June 6, 1927. He immigrated to the U.S. at 10 years old, living in Manhattan Beach, for 70 years.
At Redondo Union High School, Leon met his wife, Shirley (Friar). He served in the Navy, and attended El Camino College. Leon received his Dental Degree from the University of the Pacific, in San Francisco. They managed a hometown practice in Manhattan Beach.
They cruised their motorcycle, and water-skied behind their mahogany ski boat. They were members of the Badminton Club, and Leon served as the President of the Exchange Club. He became an avid bicyclist. He was a very talented woodworker, constructing the family's dining room furniture.
Leon modified his 'Pantera', an Italian mid-engine sports car, participating in many road rallies and track days.
He was an accomplished sailor, racing a 26-foot wooden catamaran, and cruising a Maxum 32 powerboat. They were founding members of King Harbor Yacht Club.
