Louis Angelo Saggiani Obituary
Louis Angelo Saggiani

Louis Angelo Saggiani, the son of Giovanni and Pasquina Saggiani, passed away on Mother's Day, May 13, 2012 peacefully at his home. Lou was born on April 11, 1922 in San Pedro and was a lifelong resident. He met his future wife, Margaret, at a military sponsored dance while he was serving in the U. S. Army. They were married on June 10, 1945 and were blessed with four children, Lou, John, Mario, and Elissa. Lou had a great love of life and enjoyed his family and his friends. He fondly recalled his friendships with the 20-30 Club, Feather Merchants, Elks, and the Manga Beve dinner group. He was proud of his work growing up in San Pedro, shining shoes, delivering newspapers, and working at the gas station. After his military service, he worked as a bookkeeper and office manager at Di Carlo Bakery Company. He then went to work in the electronics and aerospace fields working with some of the world's first super computers and satellite systems while holding one of our nation's highest security clearances. Lou was the 'patron' of his family and the king of Rapallo Avenue. He loved sitting on his front porch ("the only front porch in the neighborhood") watching the world go by. The way to his heart was through his family and any type of chocolate treat. His family and friends will miss his infectious smile, his easy going nature and the kindness and love that he shared with everyone he knew or met. Lou was preceded in death by his son, Mario. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; children, Lou (Christine), John (Kathy), and Elissa (John) Di Carlo; daughter-in-law, Pam; nine grandchildren, Tania (Tony), Angelique (Jason), Marisa (Josh), Matthew, Michelle (Ambrose), Mario (Sonia), Nick, Vincent (Taya), and Vanessa, eight great-grand children; his brother, Nello (Katherine); sister, Velma Coates, and numerous nieces and nephews. The family thanks his caregiver of 7 1/2 years, Marilyn Sabado. They also thank Evelyn Rabot, Dr. James French and Trinity Care Hospice for their love, caring and compassion. Viewing will be held Wednesday, May 16 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McNerney's Mortuary. Funeral service and burial will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Little Sisters of the Poor, 2100 S. Western Avenue, San Pedro, CA 90732. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits and share memories at www.mcnerneysmortuary.com.
