Louis Kilgore Obituary
Louis C. Kilgore

Lou Kilgore, innovative scientist, gifted artist, engineer, cook, fisherman, and bon vivant extraordinaire, passed away peacefully on February 8th, 2017 at age 86. A loving and devoted brother, husband, dad, and grandfather, he shared his lively wit, warm smile, and creative intelligence with all who knew him. Lou and the lovely Virginia Kanouff met at age fifteen at George Washington High (Class of '48) and they married seven years later after their graduation from UCLA ('52). He earned his BS in Chemistry there, and later his Master of Engineering at USC ('65). Together they raised their family in Redondo Beach while he enjoyed his career in aerospace, including North American, Boeing, and Hughes Aircraft, where he was active in the U.S. space program. Once retired he and Virginia travelled far and wide visiting the National Parks, Hawaii, Alaska, Europe, and Asia. In 2012 after 67 years together, Lou was preceded in death by soul mate Virginia. It soothes our hearts to think of them together again. Missing him greatly are daughter Lauren Kilgore of San Pedro, CA; daughter Juila Kilgore (Jeff) Brent of Santa Barbara, CA and Lou's beloved grandchildren Forrest and Alexandra Brent; sister Mary Jane Kilgore (Richard) Hungate of Spokane, WA; and many adoring nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Lou's Most Excellent Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday the 8th of April at Manhattan Beach Community Church. Share your memories of Lou and sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits
