Louise Rynkiewicz

Louise Patricia (Viadella) Rynkiewicz, of San Pedro, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members, on January 13, 2015. She was 90 years old. Louise was born in Norwich, CT, on April 19, 1924, the daughter, of Vincenzo and Nunziata (Carolei) Viadella.
Louise retired from the J. Baker Shoe Company, where she was the assistant manager of the shoe department, at Mr. Big's Department Store.
She was married, on May 10, 1952, to Michael (Mickey) Rynkiewicz, and they lived happily together for 57 years.
In August of 2003, Louise and Mickey moved to San Pedro, California to be closer to their son and daughter. They became members of Peck Park Senior Center. They also attended Holy Trinity Church in San Pedro. After Mickey passed away in 2009, Louise moved to Harbor Terrace Retirement Village and later to Serenity Villa. While residing at Harbor Terrace, one of her favorite activities was listening to the beautiful music played by Rob Klopfenstein (pianist) and Harry Hall (violinist).
Louise was preceded in death by her husband Michael Rynkiewicz, her brothers Theodore Viadella, Costandine (Stanley) Viadella, Joseph Viadella, James Viadella, and her sister Adeline (Viadella) Jacaruso, her parents and two nephews.
Louise is survived by her children Patricia Rynkiewicz and her partner Rick Cressey of Groton, CT, Mary Jane (Rynkiewicz) and her husband Alan Houlihan of San Pedro, CA, Michael Rynkiewicz and his wife Elizabeth Brown of Basalt, CO, two grandchildren (Sara Houlihan and Patrick Houlihan) and two great-grandchildren (Aria Barnes and Henry Barnes).
Family members would like to thank Dr. Hicham Siouty for the excellent medical care, support and friendship he provided to Louise and her family members. We would also like to express very special appreciation to Arnie Espiritu and the staff members of Serenity Villa, especially Arnie, who demonstrated not only exceptional caretaking skills, but true compassion and love as she cared for Louise during these last months. We would also like to thank the staff of Silverado Hospice who became involved in Louise's care in the last week of her life. . A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday Jan. 24, 2015 10:00 a.m. in St. Marys Church Norwich Ct. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery Norwich Ct. There are no calling hours.
