Lynne Margaret Lester Obituary
Lynne Margaret Lester
1959 - 2014

Lynne Margaret Lester, born February 23, 1959, a 54-year-resident of South Bay, passed away in the wee small hour of the morning on February 17, 2014, with her family beside her. Lynne attended Towers Elementary School, Bert Lynne Middle School and graduated from West High School in 1977. At West, she lettered in tennis three years in a row, was a member of the Aristocracy Club, was student body president her senior year and went on school trips to Russia and Greece.

Lynne attended San Diego State University where she was on the Dean's List, graduating in 1981 with a major in Journalism and minor in Public Administration. She interned in Sacramento with State Senator Newton Russell.

During college, Lynne lived in Mexico City for two months, worked at the Daily Breeze, the Art Linkletter Dance Studio and Seismology Lab at San Diego's Balboa Park. After graduating, she was also an assistant to Bill Graham at the U.S. Festival and at his headquarters in San Francisco.

From 1983 - 1990, she worked in Washington, D.C. at the District of Columbia Bar Association, managing 21 sections with over 23,000 members and their committees.

Over the years, she enjoyed extensive travels through Europe with her brother, Bryan, her parents, Fred and Mary and her beloved Nana. In 1993 she worked at CNN as an intern at the news desk, later switching to the entertainment unit as assignment editor and then as senior producer. After another extended trip to Europe, she returned to the states and went to work at Access Hollywood before changing to the television show Extra which became her home for the next 10 years.

She loved her crafts and shopping and gave so much pleasure to all with her incredible generosity, thoughtfulness and laughter.

Lynne leaves behind her loving parents, Fred and Mary Lester, brothers, Steve and Bryan, sister-in-law, Angie and her beloved nephew, Grayson and niece, Riley Lynne, her dearest friends, Abbie, Tracie, Karen, Carrie, and Robin, her extended family the Levy's, as well as countless friends that knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her beloved, Nana, Papa Moore and grandmother, Molly Lester.

We want thank her doctors from UCLA, Dr. Steven Wong, her oncologist who was her leader of the band; Dr. Michael Yeh, her surgeon; Dr. Joe Hong, anesthesiologist; Dr. Steven Raman and Dr. Percy Lee her radiologists; her second oncologist at Cancer Care, Dr. Jilani and staff at Cancer Care. And a special thank you to Dr. Grzegorz Majcher at Little Company of Mary hospital.

Lynne was one of the most caring, kindest people ever. Her smile will always be remembered as well as her laughter. When Lynne laughed, everybody around her laughed. It is all so quiet without her laughter and so much less bright without her smile, certainly less fun without her enthusiasm.

A celebration of Lynne's life will be held on Friday, February 28 at Journey of Faith Church in Manhattan Beach at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to STAND UP 2 CANCER, (Stand up to Cancer, File 1224, 1801 W. Olympic Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91199-1224). Make checks payable to SU2C. Please sign the guestbook
