Margaret "Dolly" Grilli Obituary
Beloved Margaret "Dolly" Grilli was born on August 13, 1914 and passed away on August 9, 2010. Dolly started life in Hempstead, TX, the youngest in a family of five and moved with her family to San Pedro at the age of 2. She graduated from San Pedro High School where she met the love of her life and future husband, Tony Grilli. At San Pedro High, Dolly was considered, along with her two sisters, Pauline and Katie Gattiglio, one of the best softball players in the region, and after high school, continued to play in a women's semi-pro softball league with her husband Tony coaching. Dolly was a remarkable mother, grandmother and aunt who was adored by her large family and friends. She gave new meaning to the words "unconditional love". At 95 she was still joking, giving advice and very much interested in what was going on with her family. WE WILL MISS HER DEARLY. Dolly is survived by her son, Tony; daughter-in-law, Janet; granddaughter, Danielle; grandson, Tony and his wife, Kristi; and great granddaughters, Macy and Krista. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please send a donation to the City of Hope, 1500 E. Duarte Rd., Duarte, CA 91010 in the name of Shel Haines, her beloved nephew. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2010 at 11 am at Green Hills Chapel followed by interment. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 11 from 5-8 pm at:
