Maria Isabel "Peggy" Trejo-Aparicio Garnier Obituary
Maria "Peggy" Isabel Trejo-Aparicio Garnier, age 82, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Torrance, CA. Peggy was born June 22, 1929 in St. Paul, MN and was raised by adopted parents, Elizabeth and Martin Aparicio and adopted big sister, Ernestine Wycough. She met the love of her life, D'Jalma M. Garnier, from New Orleans, LA, and they married in 1952. In 1965 they relocated to Redondo Beach where they continued raising their eight children, loving each one of them with passion and pride, teaching them to accept their own individuality. Peggy devoted her entire life to music; much of it spent in service to others, providing music and therapy to the sick and elderly, and in the process founding the "Happy Time Pipers", a senior choral group. Peggy was a devoted Catholic during her years in the South Bay as church organist and choir director with many congregations. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, D'Jalma (2001) and is survived by her eight children, D'Jalma Jr. (Hedwig Gorski), Tony (Trish), Liz, Frank, Thomas, Augustin (Jennifer), Andre and Mario (Christine), as well as grandchildren, Corrina, Lucas, Tino, Gianna and Giselle. She leaves behind her birth family, the Vega-Trejos in California, Minnesota and Mexico, as well as countless relatives on the Garnier side. Her love of music, children, laughter, and endless energy was an inspiration to all who met her. Services will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City on Tuesday, February 28, 2012, with viewing between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., followed by a Mass at 1:00 p.m. All are invited to attend.
