Marie M. Fields Obituary
Marie May Fields

Following an enduring journey through Alzheimer's disease, our beloved mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, Marie Fields, passed away peacefully, with family by her side on May 17, 2018.
Born on May 2, 1929 to Ethel and Howard "Scotty" Scott, Marie spent her entire life in Southern California, where she was devoted to her family and friends.
Working for the telephone company, Marie met and married her second husband, Jack, on June 1, 1963. As if full time careers weren't enough, Jack and Marie also owned and managed an apartment building in Torrance, and in "retirement" started Tel-A-Man, a telephone repair business in the South Bay from which she fully retired at the age of 75!
Throughout their 50 years of married life, Jack and Marie enjoyed traveling the United States, Mexico and Canada in their travel trailer, and square dancing with the "Trailer Squares". They also owned several time shares in Laguna Beach, Puerto Vallarta, and Mazatlán, and would spend several weeks a year in Mexico, where Marie liked to tell people that she was affectionately known as "Maria Campos" to the locals!
Marie was a collector of many things, but that of which she was most proud was her Swarovski crystal collection; most notably, the exquisite American Bald Eagle. She and Jack would enter lotteries to purchase many pieces, and even traveled to special signing events to have their pieces signed by the artists.
For many years, as a member of Torrance Memorial Hospital's volunteer program Las Amigas, Marie generously donated her time and talent to creating beautiful, themed Christmas trees, auctioned for charity, as part of the organization's annual "Festival of the Trees".
Predeceased by her husband, Jack, Marie is survived by her children, David (Sandy) Fields, Leslie Olson, Ray (Carla) Fields, and John (Carole) Fields; grandchildren, Kim (Larry) Roberts, Denise (Spencer) Richards, Jessica Olson, Jacob Olson, Jack (Katti) Fields, Ronda Cordova, Travis, Taylor and Trevor Fields; great-grandchildren, Maddison and Mason Roberts, Parker and Cannon Richards, Cole and Cora Fields, Dillinger Olson, Mac and Diego Cordova, and her wonderful caregiver, Rene Bandril.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marie's name to the Wounded Warriors at woundedwarriorsproject.org/donate or to the Jonathan Jacques Children's Cancer Center at millerchildrenshospitalllb.org/cancer.
A memorial luncheon is planned to honor Marie's memory on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm at the Green Onion, 145 West 6th Street, San Pedro, California 90731.
