Marion Thomas Barnett
Marion Thomas "Bud" Barnett, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many passed away at home on September 1, 2013, at the age of 96. Bud was born on April 20, 1917 in Portland, Oregon. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Sue Barnett. Together they raised 5 children: Frank Carlyle Barnett, James Joseph Barnett, Steven Patrick Barnett, Nancy Sue Barnett and Janis Marian Arndt. They had 10 grandchildren: Trevor Erickson, Tovi Vossen, Nicholle Hammond, James Barnett, Jonathan Barnett, Richard Barnett, Eric Barnett, Lucy Barnett, Maxwell Barnett, and Alexander Barnett. They also had 4 great-grandchildren: Savannah Nicholle Hammond, Cody Russell Hammond, Connor James Barnett and Conner Bradley Barnett. He was preceded in death by his brother William, sisters Bonnie, Betty, Mary Del and Gloria. He is survived by his brother Thomas Barnett. Bud loved cooking, gardening and being with family and friends. For many years he was involved in youth sport activities and was one of the founders of Premiere Little League in Manhattan Beach. He was a WWII Veteran and a very proud member of the United States Air Force Mach Booster's Club. In 1978, he retired from the Department of Air Force after 33 years of civil service. He enjoyed many years of friendship with his "Ye Old Farts Lunch Brunch" and enjoyed being a long time member of the South Bay Athletic Club. Services will be arranged by McCormick Mortuaries in Inglewood, California and held Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00am at American Martyrs Church in Manhattan Beach with interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
