Marion Josephine Martelli was born in Brooklyn New York to parents Frank and Josephine Reda. She attended Saint Peter the Apostle School in River Edge, Immaculate Conception High School in Lodi, and Fairleigh Dickinson University, all in New Jersey. She married Vincent Martelli and moved to California, first to Redondo Beach, then to Palos Verdes Estates. She began working as an administrative secretary and rose to CFO/Vice President in the entertainment and food industry. During this time she completed a BA and MBA and volunteered at Montemalaga School. She served as an AYSO soccer referee and chief of referees for 2 years. She was an animal lover and provided homes for rescued cats and dogs. In 1985, Marion and Vince formed Vinmar Associates, which provided engineering consultation, leadership and financial training to aerospace and entertainment industries in the US and abroad. She was honored by "Women in Management" She joined AAUW PVP in 1998 and was President for 4 years, edited the Branch Newsletter with a special flair and received the Branch Status of Women Award. She loved performing with Reader's Theater, and her bridge and book groups. In 2002, she began volunteering at Harbor Interfaith Services in the food pantry, and served on the Board of Directors for 6 years. During her 2 year tenure as President HIS built a new Family Resource Center, with the help of a nearly $6 million grant secured by LA County Supervisor Don Knabe. In 2010, she joined the Board of Peninsula Friends of the Library, and brought great enthusiasm to the Friends board, editing the newsletter, focusing on the mission and building an endowment for the future of the library. In all of Marion's volunteer activities she and Vince were extremely generous to the organizations' fundraising efforts. She had a "can do" attitude that was contagious and energizing. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by husband, Vince; sons, Vincent Jr. and Anthony; daughter-in-law, Mariela; grandsons, Ricardo and Luke; and her brother, Robert. The Service of remembrance will be on Saturday, 11:30 am, June 13th at the Malaga Cove Library, 2400 Vía Campesina, Palos Verdes Estates, CA 90274, Schaefer Gallery Building.
