Marlene Mariko Tapp Obituary
Marlene Mariko Tapp

Marlene Mariko Tapp passed away on July 19, 2012 after a courageous 4 1/2 year battle with cancer. Marlene was born in Gila River Internment Camp on September 2, 1943 to Eitaro and Helen (Okino) Tanaka. After the war, the family came back to California. She met the love of her life, Tom, and they married on July 19, 1961 at Walteria Assembly of God Church. They've been blessed with 4 children and 5 grandchildren. She worked at Harbor Occupational Center for 25 years where she made many dear friends. She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Thomas; children, Michael (Cindy), Steve, Lisa (JR), and John (Roberta); beloved grandchildren, Rachel, Kaleb, Jacob, Jenna and Noah; and sister, Nancy Amundsen. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and wonderful friends. Her parents, her sister, Lillian and brothers, Art, Donald and Robert, preceded her in death. Throughout this difficult journey, Marlene's faith never wavered. She lived her life as an amazing example of the love of Christ. We are comforted to know she is no longer suffering and is resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A viewing is scheduled for Monday, July 23 from 5 to 7 pm and a memorial service will be on Tuesday, July 24 at 11:00 am at Calvary Assembly of God Church located at 25501 Oak Street in Lomita. A private burial will follow. Please sign the guest book at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
