Obituary Condolences

Mary Bartmus Boice

Mary passed away January 3, 2014, peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89. Born October 25, 1924 to Peter and Dora Bartmus, she grew up in Redondo Beach and had eight siblings. She graduated from Redondo Union high School in 1942. She married the love of her life Robert W. Boice II, preceded her in death. Mary worked and was a devoted wife to her Bob and mother to their four children in Hermosa Beach. After the passing of her husband, she devoted her life to her grandchildren. All who knew Mary will keep with them a special memory of their own. Her love and care for family and friends alike touched many people in special ways. No words can express what her life meant to those she touched. She will forever be missed and her spirit and strength will live on. For many years she longed to have her Bob back by her side. When she passed, her one wish was to rejoin him in the ocean they so dearly loved. Mary wished not to have formal services, but every time you walk along the strand in Hermosa Beach or glance at the ocean, you may think of her at peace. She is survived by her four children, Robert W. Boice III (Mary K.) of Redondo Beach, David Boice (Linda) of Torrance, Mary Anne Howell (Dennis L.) of Rancho Palos Verdes, Tina Griebenow (Larry) of Manhattan Beach as well as six grandchildren, Matthew, Shannon, Jason, Dennis, Erika, Sean, and Christopher and her two great-grandchildren, Taylor and John Robert. She is also survived by her two sisters, Betty Brock of Kingman, Arizona and Libby Fourkas of Calistoga, California. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the at www.alz.org.
