Mary Louise (Meenan) Oddi Obituary
Born March 11, 1923 in Casper, WY, to John and Theresa McRae Meenan, died peacefully in her sleep at home July 28, 2011 in Issaquah, WA. Mary a graduate of Narbonne High School in 1941 worked in Los Angeles for the US Office of Censorship before marrying Albert Oddi, an Army Air Corps Cadet from Landisville, New Jersey, in 1944. They moved to Redondo Beach in 1950 and had six children. The marriage ended in divorce in 1964. A resident of Redondo Beach, CA for over 60 years, Mary raised her children on Maria Avenue in the shade of her beloved eucalyptus trees. Resourceful and resilient she made it a rich life. She became the first Parking Enforcement Officer for the City of Redondo Beach in 1964, later working as a Business License Inspector. She was a passionate traveler and enthusiastic art and antiques collector, often sharing her treasures with family and friends. Retiring in 1986 she continued traveling, studying art in London, researching her Irish heritage with brother, John and sister, Jean, visiting family and enjoying her grandchildren and garden. Mary is survived by her daughter, Melinda Biancalana, Reno, NV; daughter, Teresa McKee (Paul), Boerne, TX; sons, Alan Oddi (deceased), Eric Oddi (Lynda) Whangaparaoa, NZ; and Mark Oddi (Paige), Oakland, CA; daughter, Kathleen Marzahl (Scott) Issaquah, WA; grandchildren, Ian McKee, Jessica Oddi, Devon Biancalana-Jensen (Tony), Hayley Oddi Fedders (Andrew), Melissa, Nicholas and Cameron Marzahl, Alexis Oddi; great granddaughter, Cooper; sister, Margaret Jean Atkin, Mission Viejo, CA and many beloved nephews, nieces, extended family and friends. Mary will be remembered for her kindness and generosity as well as her laughter and joyous presence that will always be with us and will continue to inspire us.
