Maurice Raymond Ransom Obituary
Maurice Raymond Ransom

Maurice Raymond Ransom died on May 2, 2015 at his home in Westlake Village, at the age of 97. He was loved dearly by his family and all who knew him. Born on August 8, 1917 in Pittsburg, Kansas and raised in Wichita, he was an electrical engineer in his career, but also was a choir singer, pianist, hiker, gardner (with a specialty in roses), bridge player, and opera lover. He was an Eagle Scout and also a long-time supporter of the Torrance YMCA. Maury remained mentally sharp, continuing to work well into his 80s. After serving in WW II as a Captain in the U.S. Army stationed in Panama, he moved to Torrance California, where he lived for over 60 years, with most of his career spent at Martin Marietta and later at Matra/Hammond Electronics. He married Anita Dooley in 1948, a SPAR during the war, and they had 4 children, Paul, Gary, Mark, and Lisa. Maury is survived by his children, 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Sadly, Maury will miss the arrival of two more great-grandchildren in the coming weeks, who will continue God's great circle of life. We will all miss him. Please share your memories and pictures at www.forevermissed.com/maurice-raymond-ransom.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2 pm, at the Torrance First Methodist Church. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
