Max A. "Mackie" Jeter Obituary
was born on October 25, 1946 in Texas and grew up in San Pedro, CA. He received his formal education from the Presentation Sisters at Holy Trinity School, San Pedro from 1951-1960 and the Oblates of Mary Immaculate at Fermin Lasuen High School, San Pedro, 1960-1962. In 1964 he enlisted in the United States Army and in 1966, at the age of 20, he served 2 consecutive tours of duty in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged from the service and settled in the Seattle area of Washington state where he resided until his death on May 22, 2011. He is preceded in death by his parents, R.C and Rae Jeter. He is survived by his beloved daughter and grandson, Sallie and Tyler Harer and son-in-law, Jeff Harer (WA). His surviving Ohana also include his brother, Ron Jeter, San Pedro; aunt, Lei Looney (MO); uncle, Bill Ogan (WA); uncle, Ira, Jr.; aunt, Denver Jeter (TX); and 3 generations of cousins, nieces and nephews from the Ogan, Bow, Willingham, Looney, Garcia, Jeter and Farmer families. "Mackie" will be deeply missed by all his family who loved him very much. With sadden hearts we bid him a fond Aloha until that day when we meet again joined by all our Ohana who the Lord, in His great mercy, has brought home to Him. Visitation will be on Friday, June 3, 2011 from 4-7 pm with Rosary services following at 7 pm at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel, San Pedro. Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 3 pm at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 515 W. Opp St., Wilmington, CA. Interment will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Palos Verdes.
