Mim Rivo

Our beloved Mim Rivo (born Mildred Essrig) died peacefully on September 11, 2013 in her home surrounded by adoring family. She was a devoted wife to Bernie: mother to Lisa (and Roger) Peterson and Marc (and Karen) Rivo; "Bubbie" to Ariel and Rochelle Peterson and Jessica Rachel and Julie Rivo; sister to the late Harry, Elisa, and Charlotte; and loved her extended family of relatives and close friends.

She was born in 1924 in Portland, Maine to Rabbi David and Anna Rachel Essrig. She met her husband in Buffalo, New York, while pursuing her degree in Social Work. She and Bernie moved to Redondo Beach, California. She served as his office manager in Bernie's medical practice, first in Manhattan Beach and later in Torrance.

She was a partner for almost 60 years with Bernie, sharing the devotion to social justice, synagogue life, Israel and family. She was a loving and involved mother and grandmother. Her special memories included living in Israel as a young adolescent; the births of her children and grandchildren; synagogue and life cycle events; many reunions and shared experiences with her extended family and friends; her Bat Mitzvah at age 83; and her emotional return to Israel at age 85 to commemorate with her Israeli family a permanent Etrog-Trovitz Family display in Beit Hameiri museum in Tzfat.

Services will be held on Friday, September 13 at 11 AM at Mt Sinai Memorial Park at 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, phone 323-769-1311.
