Olympia Salmas Wyman

Olympia Salmas Wyman passed away June 29, 2017 at the age of 65 at her home in Palos Verdes Estates. Olympia was born in Torrance, California to Constantine and Susan Salmas, graduated Redondo Union High School, and was a resident of the South Bay for 56 years. She received her bachelor's degree from Cal State Long Beach, earned an MBA from Chapman University as well as a Master's Degree in Business Education from Cal State Los Angeles.

Olympia retired from Long Beach City College in 2013 after 39 years in education. She was devoted to her students, and took great pleasure in helping many of them secure their first job. She became highly skilled in any creative endeavor she undertook and was happy to share with others. She was the go-to person for help in any situation. Olympia was a beloved and devoted wife and mother who was known for her cooking skills and great love of entertaining family and friends. Olympia is survived by her husband of 30 years, Robert Wyman; sons, Philip and David Wyman; brother, George (Kathie) Salmas; sister, Dimitra (Richard) Krick; sister-in-law, Nancy Commerford; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 5:30 to 9pm at Rice Mortuary in Torrance with a Trisagion Service at 7pm. The funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11am, also in the Chapel at Rice Mortuary, followed by the Makaria in the Lighthouse Room. Guests will be escorted to Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes for the cemetery Committal Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Redondo Beach.
