Patricia Ann Meyer Obituary
Patricia Ann Meyer, 82, of Rolling Hills, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2018 in the arms of her loving husband, Richard Meyer. Patti was born in Red Wing, Minnesota on July 15, 1935 to Robert and Marion Scoville. She attended Robbinsdale High School and St. Cloud Teachers College before working for the Public Health Department.

Patti met and dated the love of her life, Richard, while in high school. They married at age 21 in Minnesota and moved to Shepard Air Force base in Texas in 1959 where Richard served as a dentist for 3 years. An orthodontic residency at USC for Richard brought them to Los Angeles in 1962 and they quickly made the decision to remain in California, settling down on the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula in 1964.

Patti was a generous and giving woman who relished in volunteering her time to organizations throughout the South Bay. She was committed to helping those less fortunate through the Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay and the Neighborhood Youth Association. One of her priorities was to support educational programs by devoting much of her time to various PTAs, including serving as PTA Council president and a founder of the school district Costume Closet. She enjoyed acting in church theater, teaching Sunday School, and singing in the church choir. She particularly loved volunteering for an international adoption agency where she would meet the couriers at the airport and transfer babies and children to their adoptive families.

Some of Patti's favorite moments were spent traveling with family and friends to places like Hawaii, Africa and Europe. She enjoyed attending USC football games, the theater and concerts, and doing crossword puzzles. Patti was a fabulous woman who was extremely caring, intelligent, principled, and loved her family more than anything.

Patti is survived by her husband, Dr. Richard Meyer, and her two daughters: Julie (Nick) Silvino and Lori (Scott) Sommer; four grandchildren: Daniella Silvino, Anthony Silvino, Natalie Sommer, and Caroline Sommer; siblings: Dennis Scoville and Roberta Nay; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Patti was predeceased by her brothers, Robert Scoville and Jeffrey Scoville.

Patti's memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, donations to the or Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay are requested.
Think of her fondly and remember all of the wonderful things she did.
