Patricia Kilfoyle Obituary
Patricia Kilfoyle

Patricia Kilfoyle (Kolk) age 86 passed away on Aug. 8th, 2014 in Murrieta CA. A resident of Palos Verdes, CA for over 50 years, Pat was the second of four children born to Dorothy and Richard Kilfoyle on January 10, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. She grew up on a farm in rural Ohio and graduated from Notre Dame High School in Cleveland Ohio. Pat served as a USO volunteer during World War II before marrying Anthony Kolk and moving to California with her husband and children. Pat was employed in the Medical Records Department at Torrance Memorial Hospital before retiring in 1997. She regularly volunteered in the Torrance and Palos Verdes areas for hospice support. She was an avid theater and history buff and enjoyed staying current on local and world events, with stacks of books filling her house. She enjoyed the outdoors and camping with her family in the Sierras and boating to Catalina Island. Pat regularly volunteered at the VA hospital in Long Beach. Later in life she loved to travel with friends to many places, but mostly to her ancestral and spiritual homeland, Ireland. Even in her later years, with limited mobility, she expressed interest in making a last trip to Ireland. And last but not least, she loved her cats!

Pat's parents and sister, Mary Currier preceded her in death. She is survived by brothers Clifford Kilfoyle (Gloria) of Mentor, Ohio and Richard Kilfoyle of Cleveland, Ohio, sons Dave Kolk (Wendy), CA, Jack Kolk (Margaret) of Benicia, CA Dan Kolk (Bo Varnado) of Ramona, CA, and Larry Kolk (Becky) of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA; grandchildren Ryan Kolk (Alicia) , CA Colleen Collins (Scott) , CA, Sean Kolk of San Francisco, CA , Conor Kolk of New Orleans, LA, Cameron Kolk of Palo Alto, CA , Chamisa Kolk of Ramona, CA, Spencer and Lucas Kolk of Rancho Palos Verdes and 3 great-grandchildren.

Our Mom, through loving guidance, showed her boys how to respect others and to take pride in ourselves. We were loved by our mother and she will be missed by her family and friends. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
