Obituary Condolences

Patricia Ann Woodling
Patricia Ann Woodling of Manhattan Beach passed away January 10, 2014. She was 95. She was married to William R. Woodling for over 50 years until his passing in 1995. She is survived by three sons; William R. Woodling Jr. and wife Marlene of Playa Del Ray, CA; David J. Woodling and wife Carol of German Town, TN; Kevin H. Woodling and wife Karen of San Luis Obispo, CA; and one daughter, Mary Pat Woodling of Los Osos, CA. Pat had 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was born in Grand Rapids, MI in 1918 to Joseph and Agnes Healy. Grew up and married in Indianapolis, IN and headed to California. Pat and her family have lived in the same home in the "Tree Section" of Manhattan Beach for over 63 years. She worked in the kitchen of the Manhattan Beach School District as a baker for decades. Generations of children in the area know her as "the cookie lady"; she retired at the age of 70. Her passion was her family, friends, neighbors and home. Pat was a daily walker around her neighborhood. Even after a series of devastating medical issues, one of which was a massive stroke, she continued to walk 7 days a week with a friend and her walker. Until 10 years ago her favorite hobby was Saturday garage sales. Pat would map out on Friday nights the next day adventure she would be taking with a friend or visiting grandchild. She had it down to a science. Always proud of the special items she purchased; she clothed everyone and furnished rooms for others, buying little for herself. Pat, Mother, Mom, Babe, Grandma, Patricia was loved and adored by so many. She will be missed deeply. When the time came she left just like she wanted. Still thinking of others before herself, surrounded by family, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
