Paul M. Crossman Obituary
Paul M. Crossman, 89, of Torrance, CA, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 of respiratory failure. Paul was possibly the kindest and humblest man alive, always caring, giving and nurturing to everyone, his family, his community, his friends, his co-workers and his fellow war veterans. He will be missed like no other. Paul joined the Navy in September 1941 and served in the Atlantic and Arctic oceans until October 1945. He also served in the Navy during the Korean War, stationed in San Diego. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office from 1950 to 1954. He worked for Shell Chemical and retired from Union Oil. Like his recently deceased wife, Mabel, he also committed a good part of his extra hours to volunteering. He worked in the PTA, even serving as president for J.H. Hull Middle School PTA 1970-71. He served as library commissioner for the city of Torrance and volunteered at Little Company of Mary. He was devoted to his family. He was the primary caregiver for Mabel until he broke his hip in 2008. He dearly loved his three children, Kasey, Craig and Candi, as well as his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Paul was born on November 12, 1921 in Ira, VT. He graduated from El Camino College with an AA in history. Paul is survived by his three children and their families. A celebration of Paul's life will be held at the First Christian Church of Torrance on April 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
