Phyllis Louise Engeln Obituary
Passed away peacefully on August 1, 2011 with her family by her side. She was a devoted wife to Robert Engeln who preceded her in death. Phyllis is survived by her four sons, Dan (Chris), Guy (Denise), Tim (Luisa), and Paul (Michelle); as well as her five grandsons and five granddaughters. Phyllis established a career as a dance teacher at the age of twelve. She was well known throughout the South Bay area through the Phyllis Moore Dance Studio in Torrance. She was devoted to raising her four sons and with their involvement, managed several successful youth stage bands, including the Windjammers. She continued to teach dance throughout the rest of her life, most notably at the Desert Island Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA. Phyllis was the choreographer/director of the annual Spotlight Review for 25 years. Phyllis touched the lives of all that she met through her kindness and generosity. She will also be remembered for her passion for alleviating the cruelty and suffering of animals. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2011, 11:00 am at Green Hills Chapel.
