Regina (Jeanne) May Obituary
May, Regina (Jeanne) Cecile
August 18, 1925 - August 11, 2011
Jeanne (85) passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on August 11, 2011. The youngest of five, Jeanne and twin brother Bill were born on August 18, 1925 to Harry Woodward and Margaret Sunderlund in Hollywood, CA. She graduated from Hollywood High School in 1944 and worked several years at the Beverly Hills National Bank. She married James Leonard May on June 27, 1953 and moved to Manhattan Beach, CA. They were married 50 years when Jim passed away on November 17, 2003. They raised two children, Jeffrey and Ann, who attended Aviation High School. Jeanne was a people person and her circle of love extended beyond her family, friends, and neighbors. She especially loved the ladies in her sewing group and the charity work they supported. She was also an active member of American Martyrs Church and was proud to be a breast cancer survivor. Jeanne was predeceased by her husband, her parents, and her siblings and their spouses: Marion Parker, Betty (Herman) Dragoun, Mary (Al) Boutte, and William (Doris) Woodward. Jeanne is survived by son Jeff (Sheila) May of Maple Valley, WA; daughter Ann (David) Canning of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Madeline and Connor May; and many nieces, nephews and their families. Our family extends a heartfelt thank you to caregiver Clemmie Underwood for her compassion and devotion to our mother for the past two years. A memorial Mass will be held on August 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at American Martyrs Church; a celebration of her life will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude PL, Memphis, and TN. (800)805-5856. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
