July 1, 1928 - February 24, 2011

Loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Thursday, February 24, 2011 with his loved ones at his side, after a brave battle with leukemia. He was born on July 1, 1928 in Alastaro, Finland, the 2nd of nine brothers and sisters. He attended agricultural school and served in the Finnish Army and Navy. He met his beloved wife, Helena, in 1951 and they married in 1953. They moved to the United States in 1956 and settled in San Pedro. Reino worked at the Union Oil Refinery from 1956 until his retirement in 1990. He worked as a painter and foreman and also as a house painter. He loved doing home projects and could fix anything. His passions were playing golf, keeping fit, traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved going to Yosemite, Hawaii and his native Finland. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Helena; daughter, Hannele (Dennis) Powers; daughter, Anita McCoy; granddaughters, Jamie (Theo) Rex, Jenny Powers, Julie Powers; grandson, Jason Daum; great-grandsons, Benjamin and Hunter Rex; 3 brothers; 3 sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews in Finland.
