Renee Duval Blitz Obituary
Renee Duval Blitz passed away peacefully on February 3, 2011 in Harbor City after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born on August 31, 1918 in New Orleans, Louisiana, she was lovingly adopted by George and Ida Duval. She spent her early adult life living in the Pacific Northwest before moving to Southern California. Upon arriving in Southern California, she began a lifetime of interesting jobs, including working as an elevator operator at the Ambassador Hotel, which allowed her the opportunity to meet many well-known Old Hollywood actors and performers. She also served as an assistant to Walter Lance, the creator of Woody Woodpecker, accompanying him in costume as Woody Woodpecker at special events. Later, she worked as a model and pursued her love of professional dance specializing in French Can Can, Gypsy and Polynesian dance, which led her to perform in a number of motion picture musicals in the 1950's. After settling into married life in Palos Verdes, she started her next adventure in rescuing animals, which included many cats, dogs, horses and monkeys. Because she was adopted, she felt the call to adopt two of her own her children. She is survived by daughter, Cindy (John) Kasper of Littleton, CO and son, Dave (Kat) Blitz of Lomita, CA. In addition, she is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Britney and Rachel Blitz, Chloe Kasper and Katelynn Meredith. A graveside service will be held at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. Please sign the guestbook at www.dailybreeze.com/obits.
