Rex J. Kaufman passed away quietly on September 7, 2011, in the company of his wife and his family after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. He was born July 14, 1948, in Palmdale,CA., the son of the late William and Dorothy Kaufman of Maricopa, CA. He is survived by his loving wife, Carmenof 36 years; stepdaughters, Virginia,Natalia, Elena; and five grandchildren,Esteban, Juan, Sebastian, Julian, and Angelica; also his brothers, sisters, and in-laws, Bill and Judy Kaufman of Bakersfield, CA., Jerry and Catherine Kaufman of Waterford, Bob and Vicky Kaufman of Denver, CO., Mike and TerryKaufman of Brentwood, CA., Georgiana Keefer of Easly, S.C., Paul Kaufman of Orlando, FL., and Paulette Welch of Lacey,WA.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a sister, Donna Matthews and a brother, Charles Kaufman. Rex served in the U.S. Army for 31 years. He was the recipientof the Silver Star (USA/USAF), also commemorated with the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal,National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Star (2nd Award), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and he received the Kosovo Campaign Medal. Also Mr. Kaufman was first sergeant(MSG) and a Vietnam veteran.Rex is remembered dearly for his endurance and sense of humor even in the most critical moments. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Friends and guests are welcomed beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, to attend the eulogy held at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside CA 92518, Tel (915) 653d-8417, Fax (915) 653-5233,http://www.rncsc.org/home.html. Floral arrangements must go directly to the Riverside National Cemetery on September 14, 2011, directed to: "Stationary 2".
