Richard "Tick" Duran Sr. Obituary
Richard "Tick"
Duran, Sr.

July 20, 1931 - March 8, 2014

The world has lost a loving father, grandpa and friend who was very caring and giving and would love to help anybody who needed it. He was also known to all his family and friends as "Tick" and was a life time resident of Wilmington. He was born and raised in Roswell, New Mexico and came to California at the age of 19. He joined the Army where he became a paratrooper (airborne) then was stationed at Ft. Bragg as a member of the 505 Airborne Infantry Regiment and later a member of the 802 Laborers. On the 8th of March, that very sad Saturday morning, my father's sudden passing took him home to be with the Lord peacefully at the age of 81. This was a great loss and shock to our family; he will be greatly missed. We will miss his jokes, laughter, sense of humor and especially miss his infamous line "I aint the best looking man in the world, but I am one of them!" We would then all break out laughing and smiling, we miss you Dad!! My father is survived by his wife, Connie Mendez, daughter, Irma (Duran) Vidales, Sons, Richard Duran Jr., Gilbert Duran, grandkids, Angelina, Ruben, Chris, Raymond, Veronica, Frankie and Susana, Great-Grandkids, Thalia, Jacob, Kevin, Chloe and a new arrival to the family, baby Gavin Stordahl. Visitation will be on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Funeraria del Angel McNerney's Mortuary located in Wilmington from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Funeral Mass will follow on Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at St. Peter and St. Paul Church in Wilmington at 10:00am. Immediately after the funeral service he will be laid to rest at All Souls Cemetery in Long Beach, CA.
