Richard J. Casey Obituary
Richard J. Casey, a lifelong South Bay resident, passed away on November 4, 2010 at the age of 92. Known to everyone simply as "Casey", he was born on March 24, 1918 in Manhattan Beach, California. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1936 and began a 42-year career with Bank of America. His banking career was briefly interrupted by the call to serve his country. At the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the Navy where he served honorably for four years and was a Pearl Harbor survivor. After the war, he resumed his career with Bank of America and retired in 1978 as manager of the Rivera Village Branch in Redondo Beach. He lost his beloved wife, Enid in 1981. After her death, Casey poured his heart and soul into community volunteer work. At the time of his death, he was still an active volunteer at Beach Cities Health District (formerly South Bay Hospital), the Hospice Foundation and Peninsula Seniors. Casey now joins his beloved Enid after nearly 30 years of separation. Casey will be remembered for his love of family, sense of humor and selfless generosity. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed by his family and many friends and neighbors. Casey is survived by his son, Tim Casey (Rosalind) of Laguna Niguel, CA and his granddaughter, Shannon Casey of San Diego, CA. Casey will be laid to rest with Enid at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. At his request, no formal services will be held.
