He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Jean Larson, and his nephew, Steven Freisthler. Rick was born on September 7, 1947 in Compton, CA to Harry and Jean Larson. He proudly served his country as staff sergeant in the US Air Force in Vietnam from 1967 to 1970. He then graduated from Northrup Institute of Technology with a certificate in Avionics. Rick and Linda married in 1974, and together they welcomed two daughters into their home. Rick worked as a lead avionics mechanic for Western Air Lines, and later Delta Air Lines, for a total of thirty-nine years. Additionally, Rick protected and proudly served his city as a reserve police officer for Manhattan Beach Police Department for eighteen years. After retiring from the airlines, he worked for the City of Manhattan Beach as Code Enforcement Officer for six years. Rick was a fishing enthusiast and enjoyed the great outdoors. He will be remembered for his incredible courage in his fight against cancer, his strong desire to protect his family and the country he loved, and his sense of humor. He was a good Christian and an active member of his church. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, April 12th at 1:00 pm at American Martyrs Church at 624 15th Street in Manhattan Beach, with a reception to follow at the church hall.
