Obituary Condolences

Richard W. Albertoni "Dick"

Richard W. "Dick" Albertoni, age 86, of Rancho Palos Verdes, passed away on February 27, 2013, of natural causes. The youngest child of Delfino and Ida Albertoni, Dick was born on June 8, 1926 in Los Angeles, California. He attended Gardena High School and helped his father operate Albertoni Dairy Farm, which for 50 years was located at the corner of Avalon and Artesia in Carson until it was displaced by the Artesia Freeway in 1976. Today, Albertoni Street in Carson, once the site of green pasture, wetlands, eucalyptus and fig trees, honors the memory of the family farm and Dick's work in the community. Dick served in the U.S. Army in 1946 and 1947. He was stationed in Kobe, Japan. He served as a military policeman. In 1949, he married the love of his life, Lidia Miretti. During the 1950's and 1960's, Dick was active in the Gardena Valley Kiwanis Club and was a member of Saint Anthony of Padua church. After moving to Rolling Hills in 1973, Dick operated Albertoni Realty, which was located at the Peninsula Center, until 1991. In his retirement, Dick enjoyed, more than anything else, time with his wife and children. Survivors include his wife, daughters Linda and Diane of Rancho Palos Verdes, Susan, of San Pedro, Kathleen Kohama (Steve), of Beaverton, Oregon, and son, Richard (Sanna) of Verona, Wisconsin. He is further survived by granddaughters Angela and Jennifer Kohama, of Beaverton, Oregon, and grandsons, Renzo and Leo Albertoni, of Verona, Wisconsin. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 9, 1:00 pm, at Green Hills Chapel, 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, 90275. Please sign the guestbook
