Richard Woodruff Larson Obituary
Born October 13, 1926 in River Falls, Wisconsin; died June 17, 2011 in Hermosa Beach, California. Beloved husband, brother,father and grandfather. Richard had a long,full and happy life. He was kind, loving and honest, and accomplished much in his life.He was loved by his friends and family alike and was surrounded by his family at the end.Above all he was a true gentleman with a heart of gold. Richard moved to California at a young age where he later attended Venice High School. After serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in Honolulu, he joined Merle Norman Cosmetics where he was the shop foreman in charge of all production machinery until he retired at the age of 65.Richard married Sylvia J. Larson in 1951, and the two built their home in Palos Verdes Estates. He loved working with his hands,playing the ukulele, and singing for family and friends. His passion for music led him to join a choir and a ukulele group after his retire-ment from Merle Norman. Sylvia passed away in 2008. Richard is survived by his two sisters, Jean Schiffmann of Battleground, WA and Margery Cheaney of San Pedro, CA; his children, Karen Billon and her husband, John of Palos Verdes Estates, CA, Jeanne Kaplan and her husband, Lloyd of Manhattan Beach, CA, and Dan Larsonand his wife, Linda of Torrance, CA; and his grandchildren, Aimie,Kristine, John, Jeff, Stacey, Kevin and Logan.
