Robert Clarence Lace (Bob)

Robert Clarence Lace (Bob), beloved husband of Edith Lace (Edie) was called to our Lord on 9/1/2014. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on 7/26/1920, he was preceded in death by his wife Edith, sister Ruth brother Melvin and is survived by his younger brother Fred. In addition, he leaves behind his son Larry, daughter Renee and three grandchildren, Ashley, Aaron and Adrian. Robert graduated from Collingwood high school in Ohio in 1939, entered the Navy during WWII in 1942 and saw action in the South Pacific on the carrier USS Randolph where he served as a radar and communications officer. He married his wife of 65 years Edith on March 15, 1947 and subsequently settled in Fairview Park, Ohio where he served as a sales executive with MP Odell company. He then moved to Palos Verdes Ca in 1962 where he opened his own company Welco. He eventually sold this company and worked in his later years at TRW and Siemens where he was a sales/marketing manager. His personal interests included R/C aircraft flying, pistol shooting, boating, ham radio (W6ODI) and photography. During his years in Ohio he owned several boats and became the commodore of the Cedar Point Yacht club in Ohio. In addition to boating, he was a Mason in the Shrine and his wife Edie an Eastern Star. In his retirement years he became active in supporting an operational WWII merchant marine ship called the SS Lane Victory. Rest in peace our beloved father and grandfather you will be dearly missed.
