Robert Doughty Obituary
San Pedro artist Bob Doughty passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2011. Bob was born in Riverside and moved with his family to Port Arena, Ferndale, and Pasadena. He joined the Navy at age 17 and was at Pearl Harbor on a repair ship during the infamous bombing. He spent most of his wartime experience in the Pacific onvarious Landing Craft Infantry ships. After retirement he focused on watercolor landscape painting and was an award-winning member of the Palos Verdes Art Center, Watercolor West, and the National Watercolor Society and other groups. He maintained a studio at the Loft in San Pedro for many years. Bob liked to travel, always with his sketch book at hand, and returned to paint the beautiful sights he'd seen. He painted until the end of his life, winning a blue ribbon at this month's South Bay Watercolor show.Bob was a generous man who supported many charities and rarely refused a personal request for help.
