Robert Edward Kershaw Obituary
April 20, 1928 - June 10, 2011

Bob passed away peacefully on June 10, 2011 at the age of 83. Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, he spent most of his adult life in Southern California. Bob returned after serving in the US Army, to become involved in the auto paint and body shop business, eventually owning and operating a number of body shops in the Southern California area. Additionally, and as a result of a lifelong passion for boating and the ocean, Bob conceived, engineered, and developed water purification units for the pleasure boating industry and became a pioneer in the development of a reverse osmosis process to provide pure water from sea water. Over the next decades, his company, Village Marine, produced water purification systems for the boating industry, stationary units for municipal utilities and offshore oil platforms, as well as high tech, high performance designed systems for the US Navy. Eventually, Village marine was acquired by a Fortune 500 Company. In addition to his industrial creativity and successes, he became a founding director of Malaga Bank, serving as Chairman of the Board for the past fifteen years, during which time, his vision and leadership contributed in the Bank being selected as the most highly rated Community Bank in the State of California. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; and sons, Rob (Ann Marie) and Rod. His son, Rick, predeceased him. Besides his eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, he also leaves behind his family with Barbara: Julie, Rick and Suzanne, along with their children and grandchildren. He is also survived by niece and nephew, Sally and Bill Hamor. A memorial celebration of Bob's life will be held at Trump Nat'l Golf Club in June 23rd at 3pm.
