Robert Frederick Niemeyer Obituary
Robert Frederick Niemeyer

Robert "Bobby" Frederick Niemeyer, a native of Hermosa Beach and a 50-year resident of the South Bay, passed away peacefully in his Henderson, NV home on July 1, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Even after relocating to Las Vegas in 1992 for business, he remained a "beach guy" at heart-always tan and fit from taking long walks. His Mira Costa High School classmates (class of 1960) recall him having a "hot car" (a 1958 Chevy and later, a Porsche 911), a passion for music and a great smile. He was loved for his wonderful sense of humor and his fun, wild ways. "Bobby" grew up on 24th Street, he was the 1958 Duncan Yo-Yo Playground Champion and he once caught a shark while fishing off the Redondo Pier. He enjoyed coaching Little/Pony League baseball in the South Bay with his best friend Arvin Collins, which is how he was introduced to his wife. He is survived by his wife and lifelong friend of 45 years, Patricia ("Patti Fletcher") Niemeyer (MCHS class of 1966); his four daughters, Jennifer, Erin, Taylor (Chad) and Lee (Matt); his grandchildren, Antonio, Hannah, Cosette, Jack and Kurt; and his sisters, Janice (Vic) Cravello and Lynda (Tony) Torrez. His family was his main priority in life; he will be forever missed but in our hearts always. "It occurred to me then, that perhaps the reason for my growth was I was intended for larger things. After all, a giant man can't have an ordinary-sized life." (from the movie "Big Fish"). Memorial Services were held July 6, 2013 in Henderson, NV.
