Robert Bob Gary Remington

August 10, 1944 – October 5, 2016

Bob passed away quietly at home with his wife Toni by his side. Bob and Toni spent forty-nine years together and raised their two sons, Gary and Jason Remington. Preceded in death by his parents Robert C. and Lois M. Remington. Bob leaves behind three grandchildren, Abriana, Kayleigh and Ian; sisters, Judi Bates (John) and Terri Lynn Remington, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Before beginning his 35 year career in law enforcement, Bob served in the California National Guard and worked at the Daily Breeze newspaper in Torrance.
Bob's career in law enforcement, began with the Los Angeles County Sheriff Dept. in 1967, where he served in many positions and sub stations from Malibu, Downtown Los Angeles, Lennox, Lakewood, Carson, Lomita and Firestone stations. Leaving in 1979 to become owner/operator of Maaco Paint and Body Shop, while remaining with the L.A. County Sheriff Reserve out of the Lomita Station.
In 1987 Bob hired on to Redondo Beach Police Dept. also participating in many police functions, especially enjoying community based policing as well as his other duties as police officer. Retiring in the position of Sergeant in 2001. The family would like to thank all the men and women at the Redondo Beach P.D., doctors, nurses and staff at Torrance Memorial Hospital, Torrance Memorial Hospice and City of Hope for their care and service during Bob's illness.
