In Memory of Robert Tetsuo Shitabata

Robert Shitabata, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away on March 25th, 2015 at the age of 79. He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on December 3, 1935. After serving his country in the United States Marine Corp, he relocated to the Gardena/Torrance community in 1957 to start a family and to build everlasting friendships. His wife and son were the focal point of his life and he worked 6 days a week to make sure all of their needs were always met. The greatest joys in the later part of his life were the chance to travel around the world and to spend time with his granddaughter Kiera. He will forever be loved by all of lives that he touched. He is survived by his wife, Shirley, son, Chris, daughter-in-law Tessa, grandchildren, Madeline, Alexander and Kiera. His sister, Ruby Shigeta and her children Michael Shigeta and Anne Berrysmith. His sister Elsie Oguma and her son Mark Oguma and grandson Guy. His brother Dr. George Shitabata and his children, son Dr. Paul Shitabata, wife Dr. Vangie Shitabata, grandchildren Malia and Ian, daughter Alison Carvalho, grandchildren Donovan and Mia. His cousins Howard and Dorothy Ifuku and their children, David Ifuku and his wife Yuko Ifuku, grandchildren Maki and Megumi, Adele Laufer and her husband Scott Laufer, grandchildren Mathew, Kayla and Jessie. Services will be held at Green Hills Memorial Chapel, 27501 Western Ave. Rancho Palos Verdes on April 11th and 11:00am. Casual attire if preferred. Please sign the guestbook at dailybreeze.com
