Robert V. (Bob) Smith

Robert V. (Bob) Smith, born September 6, 1935 in Bronx, NY, passed away peacefully on February 2, 2014, after a short illness in Lake Oswego, Oregon. Bob served in the US Army during the Korean War. Bob's career started with Scandinavian Airlines where he retired after 30 years as Regional Manager Cargo Operations and Sales and then worked for Aeroground corp. as General Manager. Bob then pursued his third and favorite career, as grandparent to his six grandchildren and was a vocal fan at their soccer and baseball games. Bob was an avid, skilled and competitive golfer, Bob loved the game and would play when he did not have to attend a grandchild's soccer or baseball game. He will long be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving parent, a caring grandparent. His brother Frank Smith, his sister Ann Coder and stepbrother Navy Captain Bill Quirk preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Eleanor (Ellie) Globnik Smith; son Bob and daughter-in-law Patti of Torrance, CA and their three children Tommy, Kevin and Diana; son Raymond of Lake Oswego, OR, and his three children Sydney, Garrett and Jeremy, his sister Mary Trainor of Cornwall, NY, stepbrother Robert Quirk of Hasting-on-Hudson, NY and sister-in-law Lois Globnik of Pacific Palisades, CA. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 2:00 PM, at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes, CA.
