Ruby Pauline Moore, born April 27, 1919, a 91-year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011 of respiratory failure and other ailments. She was born and raised in Redondo Beach. She was a lifelong member of St. James Church. Ruby was a 1938 graduate of Redondo High where she participated in: Personality Club, Baseball Team, Tennis, Spanish Club and World Friendship Club. She loved to play tennis in her teens. Her family resided near the high school and she often times talked of staying at the high school tennis courts all day to play tennis. After high school she attended a men's tailoring school in Los Angeles. Ruby was a homemaker most of her life and also worked at Redondo Tile Plant, formerly in Redondo Beach. In the 1940s, Ruby loved to go to dancing at the Aragon Ballroom in Santa Monica and the Palladium. In summertime, she and her sisters enjoyed traveling to Catalina Island. She also loved to visit with relatives, go to family functions and St. James. Ruby was an excellent seamstress in her day. Ruby was the aunt who always had a soft spot, a helping hand and an open door for relatives in need. She will be greatly missed by all! Ruby is survived by her brother, Jesse Gonzalez and sister, Irene Fischer of Redondo Beach. She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Moore; parents Felix Mauro and Maria Gonzalez; siblings Catalina Castillon, Rose Martinez, Carmen Gonzalez, Mary Hazen and Jorge Gonzalez, all of Redondo Beach. She had 52 nieces and nephews. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. James Parish with a 9:45 a.m. viewing and 10:00 a.m. Mass. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
